Water For Life
In India, contaminated drinking water, polluted river water and unsafe well water remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality in rural areas, with 1.8 million deaths per year being attributed to water-borne disease. The victims are rural women and children living in villages and hamlets, due to seasonal diseases caused by contaminated drinking water.
Before these wells were built, women would spend hours fetching water by foot from a community well which could be several miles away. Supplying safe water supplies in rural areas–particularly tribal areas–builds community capacity and transforms lives. Clean water is critical, and many villages are getting water to drink.
The provision of wells for villages solves the huge problem of water scarcity. Clean water becomes available for drinking, illness from polluted water is prevented, and personal hygiene improves. There is no life without Water.
In some cases, water wells are provided after the community has learned about the one true God through literacy courses. The students learn about the importance of clean, sanitary water in their courses, and the fresh water from the well helps transform the village.
In other cases, water wells are installed in communities of other faiths and people are told about the true light at the opening ceremony. The generosity of the donors providing the wells, and the message from church planters, inspires people to take literacy courses and send their children to VBS, Vacation Bible School.
By building these water wells, many souls are saved by accepting the Living Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Many people are coming to know Jesus Christ through these Living Water wells. Praise the Lord!
Current Needs
Though we have built over 500 wells, there is still a great need for clean, safe water. The cost to build one water well is approximately US$550. Please consider donating to provide a water well for a needy village or tribe. We are a registered NGO, and will send photos and receipts for proof of installation all of our donors.
